How it all began

From knead to steam, we bring heritage to your plate.

It all started with Hongmei Deng, an immigrant from Chongqing, China who moved to the US in 2017 to live with her daughter and granddaughters. Grandma would often make her homemade bao as snacks for her granddaughters, using recipes that she refined for over 40 years.  These fluffy, delicious bao were then shared with family and friends, all of whom said, “These are some damn good bao! She should sell these!”

From Texas to the world, one Bao at a Time.

In 2024, Hongmei’s daughter and son-in-law founded Red Dragon Bao with the mission to bring her delicious recipes to the world. We started selling hot and fresh bao and dumplings at farmers markets in Austin, TX. We then grew to selling frozen food to customers and businesses, delivering our bao hot and fresh for birthday parties, corporate luncheons, and events, and shipping our baos and dumplings across the country.
